Ficus carica 'Brown Turkey' (F)

Brown fig

Brown Turkey is the most reliable and the most common fig tree to grow in the UK.

Figs will grow perfectly well in a container, if fed and watered or best of all, planted against a south facing wall.

To grow well and produce and ripen fruit, figs need heat and full sunlight to thrive.

They need rich, well drained soil and surprisingly, a decent amount of water.

There are many ways they can be grown - either as free standing specimens in tubs or fan trained.

We recommend you peruse the RHS guide to growing figs which gives in depth information. https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/grow-your-own/fruit/figs
